Welcome to Pilates Re-form
Pilates Re-form is a fully equipped classical Pilates studio, owned by experienced Pilates instructor Nikki Oakley, situated in the centre of the historic town of Dorchester, at the Dorchester Yoga and Therapy Centre.
Nikki specialises in high quality personalised teaching, enabling each session to be tailor made to suit the needs of the individual, irrespective of age or fitness.
Reasons for coming to Pilates Re-Form vary; some come to manage injuries, for others it’s their first time participating in any kind of exercise programme and for some who are already accomplished athletes, it’s an opportunity for them to improve and develop further.
Nikki has experience of nearly 30 years as an instructor and as practitioner herself and she passionately believes no matter where a student is starting from, working regularly with the apparatus can help them to transform their bodies an achieve their goals.

About Me.
Nikki Oakley - Owner
I am the owner and main instructor at Pilates Re- Form and I have been studying , practising and teaching the Pilates Method for nearly 30 years.
I came across Pilates when I was training and performing as a dancer and had been plagued by a series of injuries. In 1992 I was invited by the internationally renowned educator Alan Herman, to begin his teacher training programme at the main studio in central London. After graduating, I went to work for several years at one of Alan Herdman's smaller studios in North London, before teaching freelance.
In 2014 I opened my own studio in Hertfordshire which I ran successfully with a team of teachers for 8 years before selling up and moving to Dorset.
Around the time i was originally introduced to Pilates, I was studying the Martha Graham technique at London Contemporary Dance School and completing my Yoga Teachers certificate with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Teacher Training programme.
My passion and belief in the Pilates Method has never wained. It is an incredibly intelligent and complete form of exercise, that once it is practised and applied, the results remain with you forever.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is an unparalleled system of exercises created and developed by Joseph Pilates over 90 years ago.
The bespoke classical apparatus was designed and developed by Joe , with each piece having its own speciality for every body-type. Using springs of varying degrees of tension and resistance, the apparatus enables the user to build strength and length in the muscles, facilitating joint stability, overall flexibility and a "strong powerhouse” or core.
The Pilates Method is also recommended by physios , surgeons and GPS for rehab and recovery from injury as-well as a safe and long term solution to pain and health issues.
Our Sessions
Whatever your needs, whether for pain management, better posture, greater flexibility or more efficient physical and mental performance in everyday life, including all sports and leisure activities, the Pilates Re-Form studio will give you the tools to take charge of your body.
One to One Session
These sessions are specifically designed to suit the needs and goals of the individual.
Before you begin your first session, you will be asked to complete an enrolment-form detailing any relevant health and fitness information. This will be followed by a brief discussion.
During your session you will be taken through a programme of exercises on the apparatus with precise instruction emphasising the unity of each movement, to achieve maximum, sustainable results.
By the end of your session, your whole body will have been worked and challenged in a balanced way, leaving you feeling stronger more flexible and energised .

Duet One to Two Session
These sessions are ideal for couples or friends who wish to train together. Both people will work closely with the teacher following their own tailor-made programme.
Before a couple can begin this programme they will need to attend a single one-to-one sessions so that the teacher can properly assess at what level to pitch their duet session.
During your session you will both be taken through a programme of exercises on the apparatus with precise instruction emphasising the unity of each movement, to achieve maximum, sustainable results.
By the end of your session, your whole body will have been worked and challenged in a balanced way, leaving you feeling stronger more flexible and energised .

Pregnancy Pilates - Pre Natal Sessions
Pilates is ideal exercise for every stage of pregnancy as it strengthens deep abdominal and pelvic muscles, helping to create vital circulation to support the body and make space for the baby.
However, if you are new to Pilates, it will be recommended that you continue with your present regime and wait until after the birth before beginning your Pilates sessions.
Pregnancy Pilates - Post Natal Sessions
Once your health professional has given you the go-ahead to start exercising, you can begin your post natal programme .
The post natal programme focuses on several key exercises that will help you regain strength and balance in the pelvis shoulders and abdominals.
Pilates and Rehab
Pilates can help prepare the body for upcoming surgery and also post surgery, rebuilding strength and balance without the risk to any further injury.
Pilates and Seniors
Four important needs for Seniors that we focus on at Pilates Re-Form are posture, coordination, dexterity and balance.
As you develop and integrate these skills into your daily life, it will help to bring about a greater sense of confidence and well being.

All sessions are 55 mins ( to allow time for the apparatus to be wiped down between clients)
